
Course Descriptions
This is a list of courses I took during my time at Appalachian State University that furthered my career goals in digital marketing.

Foundations of Advertising
An introductory course that examines advertising as a form of communication. After a brief examination of history, role in the economy, external restraints and customer behavior, the course concentrates on theories and principles of media messages and management as well as advertising applications and trends.
Interpersonal
Communication
Within this class, I studied the application of basic communication concepts to interactive communication situations and problems. This class helped me hone my skills in both working with teams and creating a positive work environment.
Media Publishing
Introduction to the creation of printed communication. Students will be given the opportunity to learn to use current desktop publishing software to create publications typically found in the field of communication.
Intercultural
Communication
This course focused on examining communication practices in multi-cultural settings, including international, national, regional, ethnic, racial, economic, and religious. This course emphasized the importance of understanding culture's impact on communication and forced me as a student to consider the perspectives of other cultures through various coursework.
Communication
Theory
Building upon the study of communication theories, systems, models, formulations, and measurements; new dimensions in speech criticism and research methodology; critical analysis of published reports in the contemporary literature of the field. This course allowed me to understand the many components found in communication and allowed me to apply the learned theories.
